Hi, my name is Jason and I moved into supported living from hospital in April 19.
Going into Supported living is the best thing I did, and Support4U have offered me the chance of a lifetime.
Since coming out of hospital I have had the opportunity to learn new skills on how to live in the community and be safe. Support4U staff have supported me to develop my daily living skills within the house. I have been decorating my bedroom and have learned the importance of good hygiene.
I have now joined the Wolves learning disabilities football team and can play against other teams once a month which also gives me a chance to meet new people and develop my social skills. I have a structured routine now which helps me to manage both physically and mentally. I now enjoy life and have a good future to focus on.
Hello. My name is EM and I came to live at a Support4U Supported Living Accommodation in December 2018. I have a condition called Ataxia Telangiectasia or (AT). I’ve lived in supported living for a long time, but when I came to live here, I started living my life and I realised I was able to do what I wanted to do with my life.
I love cars, go-karting and motorsports, but my condition hasn’t stopped me following my dreams and aspirations. The staff at Support4u supported me to go to a local go-karting track which I really enjoyed, but due to my condition, I found it difficult to use the pedals and this made it difficult for me to drive the Go-Karts. So I had an idea about adapting the Go karts to enable people with disabilities to enjoy the sport.
The staff supported me to speak to the go-karting team, as well as a company who modifies go-karts. The staff at Support4U helped me enquire about getting hand controls on a go kart to make it more accessible for me to use. Both the staff from Support4U and the go-karting company got together to make this happen for me.
Over the next few months the staff at Support4U supported me to regularly meet with the go-karting team to get my ideas on paper, and look at what I got! I was very happy and excited to give it a go! My goal was to have a go-kart that I could drive and was built to my needs.
After that, the Support4U staff supported me to attend the go-karting track on a regular basis. I've now gone to a new outdoor racing track where staff and my family support me to attend. and maintain my go kart.
It gives me more independence and I feel free when I am driving!
